Happy Birthday Tata! (Round 1)

Uncle Hani had a cookout to celebrate Hiyam's birthday. It was great to hang out with the family all night! We had way too much food as usual, so we sure didn't leave hungry! Everyone was playing Wii, and Eli had fun going through all of Aunt Shirley's kitchen drawers.

Happy Birthday Tata!!

Whose bright idea was that?

Tata's birthday was nearing, so Diane and I decided it would be a great time to get all the kids together for a picture. We knew this would be one present she couldn't yell at us for getting! Just to give you an idea of what we were working with, here are the ages of the participants: Avery, 2.5; Eli, 22 months; Hayden 9.5 months; Miles 2 months. I think we officially made two girls at Portrait Innovations quit after our session! While yelling the ABC's, chasing at least one child at all times, trying to capture some smiles, and to keep Avery's pink crocs off...this is what we came up with:

Now this isn't what Tata got framed, but it was one of the many funny candid shots we did get. Diane and I were in hysterics going through these photos. As you can see, Eli can't take it anymore, Avery is giving the evil eye, Hayden is clearly confused, and Miles is ignoring us all because he thinks we're nuts!

Here is what we did get framed: They are all looking in different directions, but at least they all have a smile on their face...except Miles, as he was done with this photo shoot before it even began! Oh, and the pink crocs and pearls were not being taken away from Avery! She decided if she had to be the only girl in the photo, she was gonna live it up!

On a side note, I think we are banned from that studio, lol! While we were picking out our pictures, as I mentioned, Diane and I were in tears we were laughing so hard, Nader had to leave with Eli who was throwing a major tantrum, and Avery decided that she wanted her picture taken in all the other setups. (This being after she hid from the camera most of our shoot) I'm sure we were entertainment for many that day! Even through the craziness, we still had fun, and we'll look back at this time and laugh for many, MANY years to come!

Splishing and splashing!

On Sunday, we went and celebrated Gramps' birthday. His age is a mystery, but he's been around for a bit! (Gramps is the grandpa of Nader's best friends, Rob and Al. He's like a grandpa to Nader, and he loves our boys too!) It was such a hot and humid day, which worked out great since it was a pool party!

Testing the waters...
Had to ditch the vest, it made Eli float too much, lol!
Fun with daddy
Miles and I sweat our butts off in the shade
And I thought I was white...
Sharing a drink with daddy!
Two of my three favorite guys!

Happy Birthday Gramps! I don't know why, but I didn't even get a picture of the birthday boy...or anyone else for that matter! Baby brain at its' best once again! If it's this bad now, whats going to happen after the next one? Oh boy, lol!

Checkmate and a play date!

Last week Callista and I decided to take the kids to Crocker Park for our weekly play date. We need to enjoy these summer days while they last...and before Callista has to go back to work. (I'm crying inside about this, lol!) While waiting for our best buds, Eli wanted to take me on in a game of chess!

Thinking of his first move...
weighing the options...
Oh no mommy, don't move there!
haha...this smile distracts her all the time! Checkmate!
We then headed over to the splash pad. I was a little leery about taking Eli here since it's out in the open, and I prefer to keep him contained when I'm by myself, lol. He and Bella did exceptionally well though! Lucy calmly sat with Callista the whole time, being a good girl like always, and Miles slept right though it...once he was in my arms!
Waiting for the water...
YAY! There it is!
Bella not hesitating! She was having a blast!
Bella showing Eli how to catch the water
As you can see, Eli is very amused by Bella!
Trying so hard to figure it out
Best buds!

Silly girl!
Handsome dude!
All tuckered out!

A day with the family!

Sunday, we got to spend time with the boys' great-great Aunt Fadwah. She is visiting from California, and she'll be 90 years old in just a couple of weeks! Traveling is getting tough on her, so it was a blessing that she was able to get here. Next time we'll just have to make the trek to see her.
All of the great Aunts and Uncles were there, and the boys had a great time seeing everyone. Tata cooked up lots of good food for all of us, yet Eli and Avery were grazing on the pickled turnips of all things! Here are a few pics from the day!

Kisses for Hayden!
A sorry attempt of getting a picture of the kiddos!
it only got worse...
Miles and Aunt Lamia...Aunt Fadwah checking him out too!

From left to right, Tata, (and then all the great Aunts on the Salem side) Lemia, Wadia, Fadwah (great-great,) Norma, Evelyn, and Jane
Adding Uncle Freddy and Uncle Roger

It was a fun day for us and for the boys. We are so blessed to be surrounded by such a loving family!!

Miles Alexander, 1 month!

I can't believe my baby is already a month old! Time goes by even faster with the second little one! Miles is doing great. He is a champion nurser, and has been giving me 6-8 hour stretches at night, despite being colicky! (He did have a few rough days, which had me thinking I'd never sleep again!) We had his check-up and the little porker is already weighing in at 10lbs 4oz! Just last week he was only 9lbs, lol! Like I said, the boy LOVES to nurse! He's 23 1/2 inches long. My little baby is getting so big! Miles and Eli have identical growth charts so far! Both chunky and tall!

Miles is already starting to smile in response to his Mama! It just makes me melt! Here is the evolution of a 1 month old's smile!

I hear Mama...
She says some funny stuff!
Now she's really cracking me up!
That was a good one!
Thanks Mama, I needed a good laugh!

Another way Miles seems to be following in his brother's footsteps are by his other facial expressions. Eli is a boy of MANY faces...here are a couple from Miles:

Already showing some attitude!

Already trying to master the "pouty" lips, that Eli has perfected!

Just one more of my sweet Mr. Miles!
Godspeed little man, sweet dreams, little man!
